Really nice keyboard

Opinión original: I upgraded to this from my Blackwidow Ultimate (2014) keyboard. I'm not a massive PC gamer, but I use my keyboard at least 50+ hours a week - mostly for work - and I liked the look and feel of my Ultimate (until I broke a key cleaning it...), so I thought I'd give this a go. The keystrokes feel really familiar, making the transition between the two pretty seamless, but there are a couple of extras on this Elite keyboard that I'm really liking. With the Ultimate, you had to remove the keys to get at dust/debris because they were set into a... Pit, I guess- Like a traditional keyboard. And, man, did it gather a bunch of crap over its 5 years of use. The keys on this Elite are set on top of the keyboard though, which allows dust to be blown out really easily or swiped through with a cotton bud without the need for taking the keys apart. The media keys are great. It's so much nicer than having to FN+F3/F4 to adjust volume, and having the ability to pause/resume/mute/skip just a button press away is really handy. The 'click' button press of each of these keys is really satisfying, and the dial turns smoothly with gentle clicking feedback. The quality of it all is excellent. The colours are a wee bit gimmicky but kinda fun. My young kids like hitting a key and having it ripple out, and playing around with the Chroma studio is kinda fun at first. I did notice that the React (where you press a key and just that key lights up) and Ripple (where the lights ripple out from your key press) effects you can add seem to stop working after a little while. Whereas effects like Flames and Static stick around pretty consistently. Probably a problem with the software rather than the keyboard. The sleep setting for the LEDs - which I've set to 10mins - seems to work consistently and reliably. On the software too - I hooked up my Hue lights using Razer Synapse to see what it did, but I'm not sure what the purpose is. All it seemed to do was lock the lights in the area out from the rest of my home automation system, so I disabled that pretty quickly. The wrist rest is really nice, having not used one for years it actually feels excellent on my wrists/hands. One tiny niggle with it is that sometimes it pushes up underneath the bottom row of keys, making it impossible to press them (and you don't notice until you go to press one). Otherwise, it's sturdy, and the magnet system connects it to the keyboard nicely. In terms of the structure/build of the keyboard, it gets a big tick from me. The USB port actually takes a bit of force to get the USB into it, and it really clings on tightly - which I guess is for gaming where you wouldn't want whatever is plugged in to rip out accidentally. The USB port is on the opposite (left) side of the keyboard compared to my old Ultimate which took a small amount of adjustment but doesn't bother me. The keyboard itself is quite hefty, it has a really solid weight to it and feels like it could take a battering. The kickstands underneath are a massive improvement on the Ultimate - I found the Ultimate would quite easily collapse if you tried to shift the keyboard forward, but the Elite has a lot more resistance to it and slides across the desk nicely. I haven't tried out the audio passthrough - I use Bluetooth headphones, so I can't comment on that. The cables for the keyboard are braided (as the Ultimate was) and really solid feeling, there's a small routing hole for them to tuck through underneath, as well as a rubber clip tie to tidy up the length a bit. The USB plugs at the end of the cables (there are two - one for the keyboard, one for the passthrough port) have green accents in them which is a nice touch, but otherwise, are pretty standard. I would recommend this keyboard. I think the software could do with some improving, but overall I'm really stoked with this purchase. Menos

Just Fun!

Opinión original: There’s no getting around the fact that Razer keyboards don’t come particularly cheap, even by the standards of mechanical keyboards. When my brother-in-law heard that I was using the BlackWidow Elite at home, his first question to me was “why would you spend that much money on a keyboard?” The answer was simple: It’s fun! Mechanical keyboards, for those who are unfamiliar, differ from conventional membrane keyboards by using an individual mechanical switch for each key. This results in a keyboard that is substantially more durable, more responsive, and in possession of a distinctive tactile feedback that is satisfying in a way that’s hard to describe if you haven’t experienced it for yourself. There are three major manufacturers of mechanical switches and numerous different subtypes allowing you to tune the feel and performance to your preference, so finding one that’s a good fit for you can take a bit of work. This one uses Razer Green switches (made by Kaihua) which offers something of a middle ground between gaming performance and typing. The switches make an audible click with each keypress and have a minor tactile bump. Razer offers two other variants: one a pure linear switch with no tactile bump (optimized for gaming) and one with a dampener to make them a bit quieter for typists who don’t want to drive everyone around them insane. Speaking as someone who’s usually stuck to Cherry switches before I found the razer switches a little less satisfying to use, as they’re much more lightweight and possess a slight amount of friction in the action that I never got from my typing-oriented MX Browns. It’s still a very good experience, but very much skewed towards gaming over typing (which shouldn’t be entirely surprising.) The build quality is spectacular, with a solid deck, a comfortable magnetic wrist rest, and quality molded keycaps. They’ve also included dedicated media controls, a must-have in my opinion, and a USB passthrough for a mouse or charging devices from your computer. That said, if you’re buying a Razer keyboard just for the typing experience, I can’t help but feel that you’re doing it slightly wrong. You can get cheaper mechanical keyboards with these features from a variety of vendors – but none of them will have the build in Chroma RGB lighting that makes this keyboard quite literally shine. This is my first experience with Chroma, but I’ve gained some familiarity with most of the other RGB ecosystems out there. Chroma is so far ahead of them that it verges on the absurd. The UI is straightforward and user friendly while still offering the most comprehensive options for customizing lighting and key bindings that I’ve ever seen. It has built-in effects integration with an abundance of major titles. And most impressive of all, it can connect to several other systems such as Philips Hue smart lighting and synchronize the RGB effects across them to produce a truly immersive lighting experience. It is perhaps one of the most gratuitously useless features you can find, and using it is pure technophilic joy. Launching a game like Divinity II and having a red lightning storm start up in your gaming room is one of those experiences that can remind you why gaming can be so fun. And, in my mind, it justifies the premium pricing all on its own. Because, once again, this is a luxury item. The premium you pay isn’t necessarily for more utility, but for a premium user experience. And the BlackWidow Elite delivers that in abundance. Menos

Not just for gamers

Opinión original: All I can say is Wow! I spend hours a day for the past 25 years on the computer and always invested in Logitech keyboards because, they’re always gave me what I wanted. I had no idea what I was missing out on, at least until now. However, my previous keyboard was also a mechanical keyboard I got from Online. My Logitech bit the dust, and I found an inexpensive keyboard to quickly replace mine. I heard a lot of hype with “mechanical” keyboards so I went with it. Well it was Okay, didn’t have the volume features that I’ve become attached to on the keyboard, the back lights were a little too much and I had to be sure to turn them off once I went to bed otherwise, it lights up the room at night. Well I got this keyboard and my first impression is it looks gorgeous! I mean for the price point, its what you expect, but dang it was nice and sleek. First thing I noticed was the extra USB port available along with an aux cord built in, which no other keyboard I’ve owned has had and it works out great so I don’t have to plug my mouse across the desk into my usb hub anymore, which caused problems of it getting stuck and having to annoyingly “tug” it on occasion. It came with a super comfortable and easy to attach hand rest for your palm, its magnetic. You can raise the keyboard to two separate levels or have it lay flat, whatever your preference is. Once I plugged in it came to life, my Windows 10 automatically picked it up and somehow loaded a screen for Razer automatically giving me options for settings and to download the Synapse software…Very impressed at this point. The backlit color of the keys is very smooth and easy on the eyes and slowly changes colors by default, unlike my last keyboard which seemed very bold and almost distracting. There are several options for the lighting based on the profile you choose. I got back my audio controls on the keyboard, kind of wish the inner part was lit up (can’t see the play symbols for play, fwd, rwd) but its pretty obvious which one is which. Volume control is a dial and you push the inner button to mute it. The mechanical keyboard is somehow how much smoother than my last one, almost creating a pleasant typing experience. They claim you can stroke the keys 80 million times, so I’m hoping this will be the last keyboard I own! There are a lot of details I could cover, especially for gamers, but chances are any gamer will know it before buying it. But like I said, this isn’t just for gamers. I don’t game nearly as much as I used, and using this keyboard for my daily or work tasks is amazing and feels great. If you’re one of those people like me that spends a couple of hours a day on the computer for whatever reason, you owe it to yourself to get a premium feeling keyboard, you definitely won’t regret it! I honestly look forward to typing on this keyboard now. This would be a great gift for anyone as well. Menos

Menos

Not Just for gamers!

Opinión original: Razer - BlackWidow Elite Model: C7486-3250GRY-PUS Over all an amazing keyboard. From opening the box I was impressed. Razer has a good history with clean good looking packaging and this does not disappoint in any way. First reactions was it's great quality parts, which is what you would expect for a device of this price and brand. The brush aluminum black top plate looks amazing on the keyboard and helps give great color definition. Overall, as always, impressed with the first look at the device from opening the box and seeing the device. They plastic keys feel strong as well as the mechanism it sits on. It feels can take all the rage hits while you game. They sometimes can attract fingerprints from time to time. The sound as you hit the keys are what you would expect it to sound like. Its very satisfying and conferrable. From a hard core gamer's perspective you can feel the quality and care put into the design. Although, be warned you do have to press harder on these keys requiring 50g force, but something easy to get used to. Another warning, they keys do sit high up which can throw people not used to mechanical keyboards off and you have to take care because dust and debris can easily get in it. I do enjoy how the words themselves light up unlike in some models where they are only back lit. Digging into the lighting its self, its one of razer's best LED RGB keyboards. When the wave runs with all the colors offered its beautiful and smooth. Some of their best work yet. With the ability to program the lighting I even set up different light displays for different games based on what keys I use helping me to focus on them. Each key is programmable in its own right with all 16.9 million colors on their spectrum. The wired part of the keyboard is two USBs and a 3.5 mm audio jack for your computer. For some people, depending on the computer may have to get a USB hub if you can't currently sacrifice 2 USB ports. They keyboard has a spot to plug your headphones or speakers into to make it easier to changing what you use to play audio. Although if you want the best quality, just connect your audio direct to your computer because you do sacrifice some audio quality and will have crackling issues on some devices. Unfortunately, to get full use of this keyboard you have to use both, so no getting away with just one. The cable wrap on it is Razer standard, as always, but makes it easy to weave your cable around any way you need to get it there. The wrist rest is soft memory foam that magnetically attaches to the keyboard. Although a great designing and idea to include with the keyboard there are some things you have to note. It is one of the softer wrist wrests out there, some people like softer or harder, personally, I am indifferent. Another warning, you no longer get to see the RGB logo on the front of the keyboard. I personally don't use the wrist rest just because I don't feel its a necessary item for my experience and I love the logo. A few bullets Dislikes - Keys like to attract greasy fingerprints, sorry, no oily chips and gaming if you want to keep it clean. - The synapse 3.0 software that you use to program it can be cumbersome and a pain to use from time to time. You have to really have practice and time spent on the software to get the most out of it. It is still in the Beta phase at this point none the less. - 3.5 mm jack does degrade audio quality and can have issues with humming and crackling with some speakers. - Cable braiding is thick as well as the cable itself - Wrist rest is skinny and can be too soft for some people. Likes - With on board and cloud memory you don't have to redo your profiles when you move computers - RGB lighting is some of the best ever. Smooth and pleasing and over all enjoyable - Mechanical Keys are smooth and sound amazing like they should - Aesthetically pleasing and great build quality. Good plastics and aluminum base plate make for a beautiful look - No Wobbly Key Caps! - I/O ports on side help keep other cables clean and allow you to access a USB 2.0 port and 3.5mm easier - Customization macros and using hypershift you can still use the keys for simple functions at the same time Straight from the Razer Site SPECS Razer™ Mechanical GREEN Switches designed for gaming 80 million keystroke lifespan Razer Chroma™ customizable backlighting with 16.8 million color options Ergonomic wrist rest Multi-function Digital Dial Dedicated Media Controls USB 2.0 and audio pass through Hybrid On-Board Memory and Cloud Storage – up to 5 profiles Razer Synapse 3 enabled Cable routing 10 key roll-over anti-ghosting Fully programmable keys with on-the-fly macro recording Gaming mode option 1000 Hz Ultrapolling Military grade metal top construction Instant Trigger Technology WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED Get up to 2 years of warranty and access reliable tech support here. Decision time... Buy or don't Buy? It's a BUY from me. I love this keyboard and will be getting a lot of use out of it between raging and gaming and doing media and what ever else I need. Although there are a lot more features for me to learn how to use and discover an amazing product to buy and a great one for anyone looking for a good long lasting keyboard. Menos

Great looking, excellent tactile feel

Opinión original: I have used several mechanical and gaming keyboards from several name manufacturers in recent years, and all have been good keyboards. Comfortable to use and type on, good tactile feedback, responsive, programmable, and attractive to look at. I would rate the Razer Blackwidow Elite at the top of this list. I’m typing on it as I write this. I almost compare the feel to the old IBM “clicky-key” keyboards of the ‘80s and '90s in terms of sound and feel, although the Razer is not as loud, and the required degree of keypress before the key activates is better with the Razer (less key travel is required). The keyboard is fully programmable with the Razer Synapse control program that can be downloaded from the Razer website and installed. You will be automatically prompted to do this as soon as you connect the keyboard, which, by the way, and as is typical for these keyboards, requires two USB ports as well as a 3.5 mm “combo” jack to be connected. You will be asked to create an account at the Razer website. The features of this keyboard are as long as your arm. It is a full-size keyboard with a complete number pad. You can record macros to every key. There are media control (volume, play/pause, skip ahead/skip back) keys, LED indicators, one USB pass-through, audio jack, sleep mode key, RGB and backlight control, and gaming mode key, the last of which disables the Windows key function. Anti-ghosting can be adjusted. You can store up to five keyboard profiles, and they can be used on computers that do not have the Synapse software installed. The lighting effect options are practically endless. If you want to spend some extra money and go the fully-customized route, you can switch out the key types key by key, so you can have some keys be tactile and silent, some be tactile and clicky, and still others be linear and silent. Included with the keyboard is a nice wrist-rest, and you’ll very likely want to use it, even if you don’t typically use one, as this keyboard is thicker and this sits higher than any other keyboard I’ve used. As I said at the top, I would put this keyboard at the top of any list. It is among the more pricey, but it is worth it for the keyboard’s quality, feel, appearance, level of options, and customizability. Highly recommended. Menos

Beautiful, sturdy and responsive

Opinión original: Right off the top, I just have to say this is a wonderful product. This offering from Razer is for gamers and power PC desktop and laptop users alike. While the provided software seems somewhat extraneous to me, the BlackWidow Elite checks all the boxes in what I want in a mechanical keyboard. The packaging for the product is sensible and sleek, but once unboxed, the simple plug-and-play device is ready to go and fully functional through its USB connection. You can also run a wired headset through the keyboard if you connect it to your computer's audio jack. Another plus is the easily accessible volume dial. The keyboard itself has a nice heft to it, with very little issues of the device moving around during active use. The provided magnetic wrist rest is a nice touch, however I did have some early issues with steadying this piece without disturbing the bottom left CTRL button, which led to some typing issues. Visually, the BlackWidow Elite is stunning with its beautifully aligned key placement and color-changing RGB back lighting. I don't mind the noisy clicking of this mechanical keyboard, as the press/strike accuracy is very satisfying while typing and especially helpful during a gaming session. I'm confident in this keyboard's performance every time I use it, partly due to this audible aspect. However, I know it's not for everyone and may even be a turnoff for some - not me. Overall, I'm very happy with this device due to its pleasing design, the well-constructed build, and its accurate and precise performance. Easy to recommend. Full disclosure, I received this product for my honest, unbiased review. Menos

Fantastic Keyboard

Opinión original: I am not an avid gamer, but a casual one. I find myself spending as much time using the keyboard for non gaming related activities as I do for gaming. I do find though that the key components of a gaming keyboard, also make for the best non gaming experience, and this keyboard does that perfectly. The keyboard is very sturdy, and holds its place on your desk while you type. The wrist rest is probably the best I have seen anywhere. It affixes with a magnet, but doesn't come loose easily as many others do, but also I personally love the cushion feel. I can be at this keyboard for hours doing work related activities, and it keeps my wrists feeling good. That alone is enough for me to recommend this keyboard to anyone. The back light colors and profiles are second to none making this keyboard visually stunning. Probably one of the best looking lit keyboards available. I did personally find the keys to be a bit on the heavy side, at least compared to most other keyboards of this nature I have used. It did seem that it helped in reducing typo errors, but at the same time seemed to take away a bit from the comfort and added to the noise. It is not a quiet keyboard to say the least. As for gaming, no surprise from what has already been said, I loved it. The same comforts for typing translate to gaming, the wrist rest is still my favorite part, but the heavy keys and sturdy push back help make sure you are always on the keys you mean to be, even in the heat of the moment. This is one of the best keyboards I have used ever, hands down. The only problem is the software you use to program the macros and effects was a bit confusing for me, It is not enough to be a problem, but it could be smoother. That said -- Supposedly this software will be shown at CES 2019 to integrate into Alexa.... That could be really cool if it works so keep that in mind as well! Menos

Incredible keyboard

Opinión original: I love this keyboard! It's cool-looking, noisy, responsive and amazing in all the different profiles it can hold! If you're a gamer look no further than this! The razer keyboard has the fastest and best response I've ever seen from a keyboard. It's neat-looking, with programmable light patterns and colors for the backlighting. There are a ton of different profiles you can have it remember and quickly switch to depending on what game you are playing, which is amazing in itself. Personally I could never remember what function I assigned to what key for that many games, but I have tried it on a couple of games (Overwatch and Civ VI) and so far I'm very impressed. I have the 'clicky' version, which I very much prefer, but there are quieter options out there. Personally I like my keys noisy and with less give than a lot of keys--I have large hands, so this really helps me feel like I'm striking the 'correct' key when I'm using it. The color scheme is probably unnecessary, but a lot of fun to play with. You can change the colors, options on how often they light up (such as strobe or always or wave, etc) and there are a lot of different colors available. Probably the biggest drawback is that you need two open USB-slots to use all of the functions of the keyboard, but expanding USB ports is pretty easy and cheap so don't let that hold you back (I actually had two open so it wasn't an issue). There is also a very-comfortable wrist rest that attaches to the keyboard--magnetically!! It's a very strong magnet--I've used this for a little over a month and the only time the rest has moved is when I've moved it. If you're a gamer or just looking for a cool new keyboard I highly recommend this one--it's loud and awesome! Menos

really enjoyable keyboard

Opinión original: The “Razer - BlackWidow Elite Wired Gaming Mechanical Razer Green Switch Keyboard with RGB Back Lighting – Black” is my first gaming keyboard. Molded in black, with clear numbers and letters which allow a variety of colored light to display through and around the base of the keys. The keys on the keyboard have a raised level, and give a satisfied click for each keypress. On the right hand side is a set of music controls, three buttons for previous and next, and play/pause. Also, the grouping includes a round volume wheel and mute button. The lights and button functions are adjustable using the Razer Central software application that is installed on the computer. The Razer application provides features for the Razer keyboard as well as other supported Razer gaming products, such as mouse. You can customize all the keys on the keyboard using the Razer software, and can save multiple profiles. The Razer keyboard requires two usb connections and an audio cable connection. There is a USB port on the side of the keyboard as well. Razer provides good support on their web site and updates through their installed application. I found that the product was really good, and will help for gaming as well as the casual user. I really did enjoy switching to a gaming keyboard, having a springy, clicky keyboard. It is definitely not as subtle a keyboard as standard keyboards. The availability of such customization gives great flexibility for multiple applications and games. Menos
